B-Ball Tournament Sponsor Information

Dear Amity Supporter,

Since 1976, Stan and Rita Gedansky have run a youth basketball tournament as a fundraiser to support Amity Athletics. This “labor of love” is the major fundraiser for the Amity Athletics Booster Club. The tournament is widely known and well respected in the world of Connecticut youth basketball. We expect over 400 young players and their families from across the region to join us at this year’s 5 day tournament to take place on the following Saturdays: 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20 and 3/27.

The money raised from this tournament has been used to fund various projects that are outside the realm of the Athletic Department budget including:

• Awards (championship shirts, subsidize varsity jackets, banners, display cases)
• Equipment (timing system [track and x-country], sound system on the football field; portable wireless PA system, dugouts for the baseball field, golf software, softball pitching machine, volleyball net system, scoreboards, blocking sleds, windscreens, batting cages, practice mats, equipment for weight room, walkie-talkie system, video cameras, etc.)
• Scholarships ( four $500 awards to seniors )
• Block “A” Dinner (June) Honor Athletes and Alumni (Hall of Fame)

Although this has been a successful fundraiser, much of the tournament operating costs come off the top of the total funds raised. As we did for the first time last year, we are again asking local businesses and companies like yours to support this community event. With your sponsorship, we will be able to cover the cost of tournament t-shirts, individual trophies for the first place teams in each division, medals for each player on the second place teams, food and drink items for our concession stand, referee fees for our board certified referees, scorekeeper and game clock keeper fees (middle and high school age students). Your help will enable all proceeds to go directly back to the needs of the Amity Athletes.
