Since 1976, Stan and Rita Gedansky (during the last 3 years with the help of their daughters Beth Young and Sue Kelly) have run a youth basketball tournament as a fundraiser to support Amity Athletics. This is a tournament for students 14 and younger and draws teams from across the region. Their phenomenal dedication and effort have raised far in excess of $100k for Amity Athletics.
This year's basketball tournament will begin on February 26 and run for 5 consecutive Saturdays (Finals will be on March 26). Groups of Amity teams are assigned to help run the tournament each Saturday. Volunteers are recruited by the Captain's parents of each team. The time commitment is small -- only 2 hour time slots throughout the day. Tasks include collecting admissions and providing help and items for sale in the concession area. We hope that everyone will consider volunteering to help make this event a great success.
